What is a solar car? How does a solar car work? How are we supposed to benefit from solar cars? Everyone has asked these questions one time or another. Well when we consider the way gas prices continue to increase we all have laughed about going back to riding bicycles, horses, or taking city transportation such as a bus, streetcar, or the subway. Not everyone can afford to own their own vehicle because they cost too much. Sounds kind of ridiculous but it is definitely true. Lots of people only get paid minimum wage. What is that about $6.00 an hours?

Well to answer the question what is a solar car. A solar car is a vehicle that is fueled by solar energy. The car has been equipped with solar panels that capture the energy from sunlight and transforming it to electricity which makes the car operate. This process that makes this happens is called photovoltaic effect. Just imagine having a vehicle that does require the use of gas to operate. That sounds marvelous because gas at the present time is over $4.00 a gallon. When driving a vehicle how far can you get on a gallon of gas? Some vehicles claim to get about thirty to thirty-five miles on one gallon of gas. But most vehicles are not that economical. The desire to purchase an electric car or solar car increases by every gallon of gas that you pay for.

There are several vehicles that run off of solar power; electric locomotive, Mo-ped, and automobiles. The electric vehicle requires an electric to make it run efficiently. The energy that makes the electrical vehicle run comes from several sources. The Full Electric Vehicle or FEV is powered by on board rechargeable energy storage systems. This vehicle does not require any other type of fuel to make it run. The benefits of these vehicles are you save money because you do not have to buy gas, eco friendly, and are for economical. There are several types of FEV on the market today. With some research you are definitely going to be amazed at the technology put into the production of these vehicles.

Another popular electric vehicle or solar vehicle is the Battery Electric Vehicle or BEV. It runs off of chemical energy that comes from a battery that is located inside the vehicle. It is equipped with an electric motor and motor controllers. The car operates off of a charge sustaining mode. You charge the battery externally. This is done while the car’s motor is turned off and mostly at night time. This can be inconvenient but again when you think of never having to purchase a gallon of gas the inconvenience seems very slight. There are several different BEV on the market today. Do your research and you are sure to find one that suits your needs.

The solar powered vehicle is definitely something that everyone should consider purchasing. There are also electric cars or solar cars that run of static energy that comes from a supercapacitor that is within the vehicle. Another source of energy is kinetic energy which is stored in a fly wheel. Which ever type of solar car you think is the best you will definitely be glad that you bought one, because gas is only going to continue to increase almost daily. Gas prices are so expensive people are considering cancelling their summer vacations that they had planned. Large vehicles or recreational vehicles are so expensive to drive. Imagine fueling a RV some of them have two gas tanks. You have to be rich in order to own one. A lot of people are retiring their RVs because they are not economical.
